Painted Dog

An African wild dog — also called the painted dog — pauses to listen. Round black ears tuned to the bush, amber eye sharp, that mottled coat that gives the species its name. Endangered, fewer than five thousand left in the wild, and almost impossible to find. This one chose to be seen.
